TEACH ENGLISH AS A FOREIGN LANGUAGE IN GREECE |
|
|
|
|
The original TEFL Greece location, we have been running the TEFL
certificate course in
Corinth every month since 2004. Hundreds of our graduates have
begun their English teaching careers here.
Corinth is the ideal location for those
who want a complete package with everything provided. Corinth is
reached directly on the suburban railway from the station inside
Athens airport, and we'll meet you on arrival at the station in
Corinth to ensure your transfer is fast and simple.
We provide
accommodation for you,
and so this is less expensive than at the other TEFL Greece
locations. It's also extremely convenient - the accommodation is
right across the street from the TEFL Corinth training centre, so no
travel is required.

|
Most
of our teaching practice is done at a local school. It's a short
drive from the training centre, and transportation is provided. The
school is attended by children and teenagers from seven to seventeen
years old, so you get
practice teaching students of various ages. You practice with at
least two levels from Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced, and if
you have specific preferences, you can choose which levels and ages
you focus on.
This gives you realistic preparation for exactly the kind of
teaching situation you'll be in when you start your TEFL career on
completion of the course, and with ten hours' teaching spread over
the four weeks of the course, you have plenty of opportunities to
develop your teaching techniques in response to the feedback from the
trainers who observe your lessons. Your best four teaching practice
grades are counted for your assessment on the course, giving you an
extra incentive for continuing improvement. |
|
We also have some lessons at the training center, particularly to
provide practice with small groups and one-to-one teaching with
adults. In many countries, like Greece, one-to-one lessons are very
popular, particularly with adult students, so we ensure that you are
effectively prepared for the special challenges that this way of
working presents, including Teaching English for Specific Purposes.
These one-to-one lessons aren't observed, but form the basis of a
project which is introduced in a session on learning to analyze the
needs of individual students, and aims to develop your abilities in
designing materials, activities and lessons tailored to the needs of
your students. This project culminates in a written assignment which
enables you to get feedback and guidance from the trainers. This is
one of three assignments during the course designed to underpin your
ability to reflect on your teaching, laying the foundations for
continuing development. |

We're located in a village - called
Vrahati - eight miles outside the modern city of Corinth, so all the
facilities you might require such as supermarket, bakery, bookshop
and a variety of places to pick up a snack for lunch are within five
minutes' walk. There is also a bus stop two minutes' walk from the
house, with hourly services to Athens.
The village is pretty quiet in the
winter months, but it has one of the best beaches in the area,
awarded with the European Union Blue Flag, and is also a center for
nightlife with numerous restaurants bars and clubs along the
seafront. To enable you to get the most out of
your stay, we also offer a program of excursions to the local
sights.

TEFL Corinth website.
